(I've been a total screwtard and I haven't read her new novel The Keep yet. I've been too busy trying not to read the reviews. (Harder than it sounds.) But I'm going to get on that book as soon as possible.)

I got to see Ms. Egan reading Wednesday night! It was totally awesome (to coin a phrase) -- she read Chapter 5 of "The Keep" which I would not have expected to work on its own, outside the context of the novel -- but it did! And she said hello, and answered questions, and signed my book! (I was happy to see "White Teeth" on that list since it is a recent addition to my reading list.
